Crystal Cave
The Crystal Cave,
part of one of the largest cave systems in
Belize, is said to have been millions of years
in the making with ceilings spanning up to 100
feet in height. There are Mayan pottery shards
and ceremonial burn sites in the cave, proving
that this was part of Xibalba, the Underworld
where the Mayans believed their Gods lived.
Visitors do a combination of tubing and
trekking through this sacred area to access the
eerie beauty of this vast, wild, and unspoiled
cavern.
This a not to be missed excursion as it is
something rarely seen in any place in the world
with its combination of Mayan history and the
its awesome crystal structures, rim stone pools,
and crystal blue spring waters.
Your guide will carry a dry bag for your camera,
as there are many photo opportunities, and he
will provide you with headlamps and inner tubes
as well.
Sturdy shoes are recommended for this trip. (No
flip flops!)
Cave
Tubing
Enjoy a nature hike through the rainforest
jungle on the way to cave tubing. Along the way
the local flora and fauna will be pointed out,
including some herbs used for medicinal purposes
by the ancient Mayas,. On reaching the river,
you will climb on to an inner tube and float
through a tunnel which leads to a system of
Caves. It is one of the most sensational tours
of Belize
New River Cruise & Lamanai Mayan Ruins
Travel by boat along the New River and witness
the same flora and fauna ancient Mayan traders
observed on the way to the ancient city of
Lamanai.
Lamanai, or "submerged crocodile," is off our
beaten track - yet it thrived for over 3000
years.
Lamanai is also a botanical and wildlife reserve
and showcases many native exotic birds and
plants used for medicinal and commercial
purposes. Most trees are labeled along the
trails for easy identification
